5400-RM won't upgrade firmware [SOLVED]

Description

A user tries to upgrade a 5400-RM running firmware version 16.3.15 to a newer firmware version (such as 17.2.22.5), but the firmware upgrade fails.

Solution

The solution to fix any units on 16.3.15 first upgrade them to firmware version 16.7.49.12.  Once the 5400-RM is running on firmware version 16.7.49.12, they can be upgraded to any newer firmware.

Instructions for upgrading the firmware on the 5400-RM

Using Accelerated View

1.  Login to Accelerated View and use the Search tool to find the device by searching for its MAC address.

2.  Select the MAC address of the device to bring up its details page.

3.  Click on the Configuration tab, then select the Edit Group Configuration link in the Configuration section of the page.

4.  Select the appropriate firmware version from the Firmware drop-down list.

5.  Click the Update button.

6.  All 5400-RM devices associated with that group configuration profile will upgrade to the new firmware the next time the device syncs with Accelerated View (by default, once every 24 hours around 1AM UTC).  If you want to apply the firmware upgrade immediately, please perform the following:

  • Go back to the details page of the 5400-RM (see steps 1 & 2 above).
  • Select the Commands drop-down at the top-right of the page.
  • Select Check Configuration option from the Commands drop-down.
  • Once the command is received by the 5400-RM, the device will automatically upgrade to the new firmware.

Managing Device Locally

4.  Select the Browse button next to the Firmware image section.

5.  Browse for and select the downloaded firmware file.
