AT&T VPN Gateway Overview

The AT&T VPN Gateway is implemented through an external hardware device that is Ethernet or Wi-Fi connected to the remote LAN or computer. A hardware VPN implementation has its advantages. Because the VPN requires no software installation on each computer, instead using the AT&T VPN Gateway, a customer can support their entire user population with a single solution, regardless of operating system or access method; AT&T VPN Gateway supports multi-provider Cable, Internet leased line, POTS Dial, ISDN, Cellular and/or DSL, and dedicated software is avoided through the use of a standard web UI for all end-user communication with the AT&T VPN Gateway.

The installation at the remote site is designed to be user friendly. The device is shipped pre-configured for all LAN parameters. Manual configuration on site is only necessary if required by the broadband Internet Service Provider (ISP), or if dial/ cellular is to be used as the primary access method.

All LAN configurations are defined through the AT&T Administration Server, which is centrally managed by the customer’s Account Administrator.

The shipping box includes everything needed to install the VPN Gateway, including the VPN Gateway device, power supply, Ethernet cables, and cellular antennas. A step-by-step installation guide is also included. If the user has additional questions, help is available through the AT&T Global Network support desk, though most users can open the box, attach the cables, and begin accessing their VPN without additional configuration or support.
