A VPN device such as the VPN Gateway must encrypt all data flows across the Internet to keep the communication flows private. This includes the IPSec VPN tunnel to the enterprise network, the authentication and configuration flows to and from AT&T Administration Server (AT&T’s centralized configuration and authentication engine), proactive monitoring alerts, and data flows to FOCUS (AT&T’s reporting engine data collectors). Each of these data flows are encrypted using dynamic independent algorithms and independent keys.
