The VPN Gateway takes advantage of the cost savings associated with shared Internet connectivity without losing the security benefits of a dedicated connection. Strongly encrypted, high throughput is provided with an easy-to-use web interface for user initiated connections.

The AT&T VPN Gateway solution is designed to be secure yet flexible. It stresses security and customer preference by allowing customers to implement their choice of authentication methods, tunnel persistence, primary and backup WAN configurations, VLAN support, and many other features outlined in this document.

The VPN Gateway supports cellular connectivity for primary network access for installations where higher-speed broadband is physically unavailable or cost-prohibitive. A dial/ISDN/cellular connection also gives broadband-connected remote sites the convenience of optional Automatic Dial Backup, giving them constant access to their secure network, regardless of occasional broadband outages.
